Beating its stiff competitor Sun TV, media major Jaya TV managed to acquire the satellite broadcasting rights of superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Lingaa for a record sum of Rs.32 crore!
This is a record in the history of Indian Television as no other film’s satellite broadcasting rights has so far been acquired for such a huge price. Media baron Sun TV, part of Marans’ Sun Network, put its best foot forward in its effort to acquire the satellite broadcasting rights of Rajini’s latest film whose release in theatres on 12th December is awaited with bated breath by his millions of fans.
Sun TV was ready to cough up Rs.28 crore but Jaya TV beat Sun TV by paying Rs.32 crore and acquiring Lingaa’s broadcasting rights on television.
This is jhust another record for Rjaini’s Lingaa, which has already created many a record even before its release in theatres. K.S. Ravikumar has directed the film which has music by A.R. Rahman and has been produced by ‘Rockline’ Venkatesh.
Meanwhile, the Censors cleared Lingaa by effecting no cuts on the final version and passed it with an ‘U’ certification. Rajini plays dual roles in the film which has Bollywood girl Sonakshi and Anushka opposite him as the two heroines.
Slated to release in theatres on Rajini’s birthday on 12th December, the film’s duration is said to be 174 minutes, almost the same as that Padaiyappa, Rajini’s earlier film with K.S. Ravikumar.
