Asst director Ravirathnam claims script of Rajini’s Lingaa belongs to him

Lingaa-CDIn yet another case of film-makers’ script being questioned for their originality, an individual claiming to be an assistant director in films, has filed a case with the Madurai Bench of the High Court of Chennai claiming that the script of superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Lingaa was actually his.

Rajini plays dual roles in the film, whose release in theatres has generated huge interest and curiosity not only among Rajini’s fans but movie-goers as well. K.S. Ravikumar has directed the film which has A.R. Rahman composing the music. The audio-launch of the film is to be held in a grand manner on Sunday (16th November) at the Sathyam Cinemas complex in the city.

Pon Kumaran, a former aide of directors K. Bhagyaraj and K.S. Ravikumar and director of the 2012 film Chaarulatha which starred Priyamani in the lead, is the script-writer of Lingaa whose dialogues and screenplay have been written by K.S. Ravikumar. As the script was found suiting Rajini’s larger-than-life image, Ravikumar decided to use the script.

In the meantime, Ravirathnam has filed a petition with the Madurai Bench of the High Court of Madras stating that he was an assistant director by profession and that the script of Lingaa was his own creation. He had further stated in his petition that he was filing the case based on newspaper reports of what the script of the film would be.
