Pencil crew caught into a deadly storm in Japan

Pencil-Movie-Stills-1It turns out that G.V. Prakash Kumar, music director and hero of the film Pencil, and other crew members including heroine Sri Divya were caught in a deadly storm which broke out a few days back in Japan where they have been shooting for the past fortnight.

Pencil has Prakash Kumar debuting as hero in Kollywood. Said to be about the love affair which brews between school-going students, Priya Anand was initially roped in to play Prakash Kumar’s heroine but was replaced at the last minute by Sri Divya as it was felt that she would be more suited to play a school girl.

The crew left for Japan some time back to shoot a couple of songs which would bring curtains to the film’s shooting schedule. The crew had planned to shoot the song on the Yatsugatke Mountain ranges situated between the Nagano and Yamanashi Perfectures. Thy reached the top of the mountain ranges after traveling by rope-car.

It was at that time that Storm Noori broke out in the Island Nation and it resulted in the temperature dipping to a new low near the mountain ranges. The crew members were caught unawares and had trouble in breathing due to low oxygen at the location where they had landed to shoot. When Sri Divya’s mother was suffering, the producer (who also happens to be a doctor) administered first-aid to her, making her feel better.

When the crew member started having troubles in breathing, the crew members were rescued by locals. Mani Nagaraj, the debutant director and the crew, are likely to return to Chennai today.
