Kamal explains reasons behind delay in release of Vishwaroopam II

Kamal-explains-what-happend-in-Papanasam-ShootingKamal Haasan has explained the reasons behind the theatrical release of his much-awaited and much-delayed Vishwaroopam II. Sequel to Kamal Haasan’s controversial yet successful Vishwaroopam which released early last year, the shoot of the sequel reportedly began even before the release of Vishwarooopam.

Insiders say that Kamal had finished a considerable portion of the sequel before the release of the first part in theatres. Ascar Films’ Ravichandran then secured the rights to produce and release the sequel. The film, which was to release late last year, hasn’t yet seen the light of the day even after a year.

Kamal Haasan has gone ahead and completed the shoot of Ramesh Aravind’s Uttama Villain and debutant Jeethu Joseph’s Papanasam while he was waiting for the theatrical release of Vishwaroopam II. “I was obviously worried about the release of the sequel (Vishwaroopam II) after the hurdles faced by Vishwaroopam. Not wanting to waste time, I agreed to do Uttama Villain for Lingusamy.

“I loved the script of Papanasam when it was narrated to me; thankfully, the shooting schedules of both Uttama Villain and Papanasam have been completed. Except for a song, the shoot of Vishwaroopam II was completed in last October itself. Post-production work appears to be taking time; it is impossible to fix a date for the release of the film at this very moment,” concluded Kamal Haasan.
