As many as 90 films are completed and are ready to hit the screens in the nine weeks which remain in 2014. On an average, this would be possible only if 10 films are released each week.
Even if half of those 90 films manage to see the light of the day on silver-screen, it would be a new record as the number of films for the years releasing in theatres would have crossed 200! Right from the beginning of the year, the average number of films releasing every week was high as compared to the previous years. Till Deepavali, 167 films have released, which had already eclipsed 160, the number of films which released in 2013.
Most of the 90 films waiting to be released in theatres have also been cleared by the Censor Board, it is reliably learnt. The list includes superstar Rajinikanth’s Lingaa, Shankar’s Vikram-Amy Jackson starrer I, Raghava Lawrence’s Muni 3. It may be noted that most of the small-film producers are wary of releasing their films on days when big-budget films starring frontline heroes are released.
