Actor Vijay has thanked AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa for helping his cause in the crisis relating to the theatrical release of his Kaththi which releases worldwide in theatres today, the day of lights.
The film, which has Vijay-Samantha in the lead and is directed by A.R. Murugadoss, faced immense pre-release issues due to the fact that it was produced by Subashkaran’s Lyca Mobiles.
Subashkaran’s friendship and him being in business association with Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapakse had angered Tamil activists and politicians who had announced that they would allow the release of the film in theatres at no cost.
The issue has since been sorted out apparently at the behest of the former chief-minister. Vijay has issued a thanks-giving statement through his PRO P.T. Selvakumar. “Love to all the people of Tamil Nadu and to my fans. I’m happy to announce that the producer of Kaththi has acceded to the request of Tamil activists and movements and has decided to remove the name of Lyca Mobiles from the film’s posters and advertisements.
“With this, the issue has now been resolved peacefully. I appeal to the people and to my fans to watch and enjoy Kaththi in theatres as they had been waiting with expectations for the movie’s release. At this moment, I would like to convey my heart-felt thanks to Hon’ble Puratchithalaivi Amma and to police officials, theatre-owners and distributors. I also wish all a happy Diwali,” Vijay’s statement concluded.
