The sudden ‘disappearance’ of Divya Spandana (known as ‘Kuthu’ Ramya to Tamils) has worried the Kannada film industry as well as the politicians in the State. Divya, who became the youngest parliamentarian in the country when she won the by-election to the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka last year, lost the elections early this year when the BJP wave swept Karnataka and the rest of the country.
The Polladhavan and Vaaranam Aayiram star remains unconnected with her relatives, friends and those from the film industry as well as politicians for more than two months now. A regular on social networking sites, she had last recorded her tweets in her Twitter page only on 02nd August. Sources close to her say that Divya was very upset with her loss in the Lok Sabha elections held in April-May this year.
After the loss, she reduced participating in public events. She tweeted that she had also signed up a new film opposite Puneet Rajkumar but later said that due to differences with the producer, she had opted out of the film. As she hasn’t taken part in film-related or political events for a long time, fear has gripped her relatives. She is neither at her apartment at Richmond Circle in Bangalore nor at Taj Hotel, her usual place of stay.
Karuna Reddy, her personal assistant, feigned ignorance about her whereabouts. “It’s been many days since I spoke to Divya Ma’am. In fact, I don’t know whether she is India or had gone abroad,” he said.
A few friends close to her, who don’t want to be named, said that Divya could have gone to London for a long, undisturbed vacation. E-mail messages sent to Ramya haven’t been replied to by her, it is further reported.
