I’m a Tamil too and won’t do anything against Tamils: Murugadoss

Murugadoss-Vijay-at-Kaththi-Audio-launchLooking sombre at the audio-launch of his controversy-ridden film Kaththi, film-maker A.R. Murugadoss put up a brave face while speaking at the event saying that he was also a ‘Tamil’ and wouldn’t be attempting anything which might even remotely demean or hurt the sentiments of Tamils the world over.

Produced by Lyca Mobiles’ Subashkaran, the audio-launch was held at Leela Palace hotel in the city amid tight security as protests were held outside the venue demanding scrapping the event.

Besides Vijay and Murugadoss, others who attended the event included Samantha, directors A.L. Vijay and Vikraman, Soundarya Ashwin, ‘Kalaipuli’ Thanu, Madan Karky, Arya, Shanthnu, UTV’s Dhananjayan, S.A. Chandrasekhar, R.B. Chowdhary and Anirudh Ravichander, the film’s music director.

“If my first film Thuppakki with Vijay thrilled the audiences, my second film Kaththi with Vijay would make them deliriously happy. I was under tense, though in a happy way, to better the performance of Thuppakki as comparisons would be inevitable. When I fell ill a few days back, Vijay paid a visit to the hospital to call on me for which I thank him. Vijay has played dual roles in the film,” he said.

On another note, without directly referring to the controversy surrounding the film and its producer Subashkaran, Murugadoss said “I’m a pure Tamil and I won’t do or say anything which might be perceived even remotely against Tamils.” Commenting on his foray into Bollywood, he said he didn’t make Hindi films for merely earning money. “I wanted to prove that a Tamil director can successfully make Hindi films,” he conclude.
