Students’ body warns against holding audio-launch of Kaththi

Student-Activities-Warning-letter-to-KaththiStudents’ federations have warned actor Vijay from ‘casually’ holding the audio-launch of his upcoming film Kaththi tomorrow without bothering to address the apprehensions expressed by Tamil activists about the film’s release in theatres. “If you try to hold the audio launch tomorrow, we won’t let it happen easily; in case if it happens, it might well be the last film in your career,” they have warned Vijay.

Produced by Subashkaran, a business associate of Sri Lankan president Rajapakse, the release of Kaththi has long been opposed by Tamil movements and activists. Samantha is paired opposite Vijay in the film which has been directed by A.R. Murugadoss.

As many as 65 Tamil organizations have come together to oppose the film’s release in theatres on the premise that Rajapakse, the mastermind behind the genocide of Tamils in Lanka, should be connected in no way with the Tamil film industry.

Subashkaran announced recently that he would go ahead with the release of the film as per schedule and said that the audio would be released on 18th September (tomorrow).

Maran, organizer of the Progressive Students’ Federation, has said in a statement that “This is the final warning; we want to tell you that we won’t allow the audio launch of Kaththi, produced by Sinhalese’s agent Lyca, to be held that easily.

“Whether or not you are publicizing the audio-launch, we are ready to publicize this all over the State to drum up support to protest against the audio-launch. If you don’t cancel the audio-launch and go ahead with it, protests would be held all over the State and this might even turn out to be the last film in your career,” Maran’s statement, addressed to Vijay, concluded thus.
