Lanky Raai Laxmi (who was earlier known as Lakshmi Rai) has expressed her wish to play the lead role in a full-fledged horror film. Laxmi played Raghava Lawrence’s heroine in the 2011 super-duper hit Kanchana (second among the Muni sequel) but the film was dominated by Lawrence and Sarathkumar and had very little screen-space for Laxmi who was used mainly for the song sequences.
Along with Hansika and Andrea Jeremiah, Laxmi plays one of the 3 heroines in Sundar C’s upcoming film Aranmanai which is due to release shortly. She has also agreed to star in Raghava Lawrence’s Oru Ticketula Rendu Cinema which would feature two distinct stories: one before the intermission and one after it. Lawrence would star work in the film after wrapping gup the shoot of his Ganga (Muni-3).
Kizhavan and Karuppu Durai are the ‘two films’ within one film. Laxmi has been signed up to play the heroine in Karuppu Durai. Speaking to newsmen recently, Laxmi said “I’m happy to be featuring in no rumours recently. I concentrate in my career and ensure than nothing that is untrue is written about me.
“Of late, horror films have been releasing in large numbers and my upcoming Sundar C-directed Aranmanai too falls in the same genre. However, I would love play the ‘beautiful ghost’ in a full-fledged horror film,” she said and justified her decision to star in multi-starrers.
“The trend now is to make multi-starrer films as cost of production has gone up by leaps and bounds in the past few years. I’m happy to be part of the trend,” she concluded.
