Pleased with the box-office success of his latest film Salim, music director-turned-hero Vijay Antony has decided to make a sequel to it. This was announced by him at a meet-the-press event organized by the film’s producers Fathima, Suresh and Saravanan at T. Nagar in Chennai yesterday.
Starring Vijay Antony and debutant heroine Aksha Pardasany in lead roles, the film was released last Friday and has been declared a hit by trade pundits. Sailm has been directed by Nirmal Kumar, who was working as an assistant director with Bharathiraaja for many years before making his directorial debut.
Antony was garlanded by the producers and his fans even presented him with a ‘sword’. Speaking to newsmen, Antony said “Salim has turned out to be the sequel to Naan and has unmasked the many atrocities perpetrated in society. Fans have responded hugely to the film. We released the film initially in 240 halls and are now releasing it in 60 more halls from today.
“I am happy about the film’s box-office success. My next film has been titled as India-Pakistan. I shall be making sequel to Salim (Naan-3) next year,” he said and added that he wouldn’t be scoring music in films from now as he has decided to concentrate fully in starring in films.
