Yaan doesn’t feature murder of Balachandran, says director Chandran

Yaan-Movie-Stills-10-e1400211344262Cinematographer-turned-director Ravi K. Chandran has denied that his upcoming film Yaan features sequences depicting the tragic murder of Balachandran, the teenaged son of the slain LTTE chief V. Prabhakaran.

Chandran, who has worked in films made by some of the leading directors in the country such as Priyadarshan, A.R. Murugadoss, Mani Ratnam and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is a cinematographer who has worked in many Tamil and Hindi super-duper hit films.

He is all set to make his debut as director with Yaan which features Jiiva and Thulasi Nair in lead roles.

Others in the cast include Nasser, Prakash Raj, Thambi Ramaiah, Premgi Amaren and Arjunan. Yaan, which is produced by Elred Kumar, has music by Harris Jayaraj and is cinematographed by Manush Nandan.

The film’s audio-launch was held a few days back in the city which was followed by a chat with newspersons.

Reacting to a query on the contents of the film, Chandran said “We have only cited instances of human rights violations in the worked and haven’t specifically shown the murder of Balachandran or about the civil war in Lanka.

In fact, we have shot widely in Morocco as some portions of the script are set in the backdrop of that country. Yaan promises to be a thorough action-packed entertainer with a heavy dose of comedy!”
