Despite successes, Vijay Sethupathi hasn’t yet hiked his fee

Vijay-SethupathiVijay Sethupathi is an actor who goes by his conscience in making his decisions and implementing them.

Despite successive successes in his kitty for the past one-and-a-half years, the man hasn’t changed a wee bit and hasn’t gone in for a pay-hike, a tactic adapted by rank newcomers as well as established artistes the moment they manage to deliver one or two hit films.

Debuting in a major role in Seenu Ramasamy’s Thenmerku Paruvakaatru in 2010, Vijay garnered critical acclaim for his character in the film. He then essayed a completely negative character in Sasikumar’s Sundarapandian and played the hero in Pizza and Naduvula Konjam Pakkathai Kaanom which released soon after.

All the three films were huge hits at the box-office. Vijay then followed it up with successes such as Soothu Kavvum and Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara which means that he now has a string of five successive films. He is presently getting Rs.2.5 crores per film as his fee and hasn’t been demanding a fee hike. By not hiking his fee despite his successes, Sethupathi is clearly setting a new precedent in Kollywood.

He now has a host of films getting ready to release and hit the screens this year. The impressive line-up of films include Rummy, Pannaiyaarum Padminiyum and Vasantha Kumaran besides S.P. Jananathan’s Porampokku.
