The not-so-successful show of Vikram Prabhu’s Ivan Veramathiri which hit the screens a couple of weeks ago appears to have hurt the prospects of his upcoming film titled Sigaram Thodu as well.
While Ivan Veramathiri was produced by UTV Motion Pictures jointly in association with Lingusamy’s Tirupathy Brothers, UTV has produced Sigaram Thodu wholly on its own. Directed by Saravanan of Engeyum Eppodhum fame, Ivan Veramathiri was even lauded by superstar Rajinikanth who said that the climax was ‘very well picturized’ and wished the crew success.
Gaurav, who directed Thoongaa Nagaram some time back, is directing Sigaram Thodu which has the sizzling Monal Gajjar pairing up opposite Vikram Prabhu. UTV bosses are said to be apprehensive about the fact that the failure of Ivan Veramathiri might not encourage many distributors to come forward to acquire the release and distribution rights of Sigaram Thodu.
For some reasons, though, UTV Motion Pictures hasn’t been able to make successful films in Tamil at regular intervals as it does in Bollywood.
