Khushboo feels ads on idiot-box are to be censored

Khushboo-with-BharathirajaKhushboo Sundar, popular actresses/heroines of yesteryears and current days politicians close to the DMK chief Karunandihi , has opined that there ought to be censorship even for the advertisements aired on television.

“Some advertisements, which are strictly to be aired late in the night, are blatantly aired in the morning and during peak hours making it embarrassing for the parents and elders in the family,” she points out.

Khushboo, who is equally popular on the small screen as well, says that small screen (television) offers a wider canvas to (retired?) actresses as its reach is far beyond that of big-screen (films). “Though films have advanced tremendously, the small screen too has made rapid strides. The tele-serials, however, depend on TRP ratings for which the makers are forced to include many twists and turns in them.

“It is this commercial compulsion which depicts many women as evil-minded on these tele-serials. The public appears to love if a woman is shown strong-willed (despite the negative shades in her character) and is shown to be ready to go to any length in order to achieve her objectives. We shall stop showing women in such roles when the public stops loving such characters on-screen.

“I feel that all the programmes and advertisements aired on television should invariably be censored. The advertisements which are relayed in between overs in cricket matches, which are watched in huge numbers by children and young boys, ought to be censored thoroughly,” opines Khushboo.
