The trend in Kollywood is such that when an actor plays a cop in a few films, he gets branded as a ‘cop specialist’. ‘Jayam Ravi’, who has just completed a decade in Tamil films, has played the sportsman in a few films is as such considered a sportsman by most of his fans. For the record, Ravi plays a boxer again in his upcoming film Boologam which has Trisha opposite him.
Dass had him essaying a football player while M Kumaran S/o Mahalaxmi saw him playing a boxer. He then played an NCC trainer in Peraanmai and is again playing a kick-boxer in his upcoming film Boologam. It turns out Ravi had trained in the marital art of kick-boxing in his younger days.
Speaking about his interest in sports, Ravi said “I had been actively taking part in sports activities right from my younger days. This interest had created discipline in me which helped me as an individual. I always feel that there is a sportsperson lurking inside me. In my life, I face all the difficulties and troubles with the mindset of a sportsperson and am able to treat equally my successes and failures.
“In future, I plan to allot considerable time in encouraging sportspersons and for the overall development of sports in the country. It’s just a coincident that I play such roles frequently in my films. I want to take on a variety of roles in films to continue to prove my mettle as an actor. I have challenging roles in both Boologam as well as Samuthirakkani’s Nimirndhu Nil,” signs off Ravi.
