Madhavan to play a boxer in his next tamil film

MadhavanMadhavan was last seen in a Tamil film in the super-duper hit Vettai which released in January last year. Madhavan played the lead role along with Arya in the Lingusamy-directed film which was a hit despite some mixed reviews. The film was also remade in Telugu later.

More than an year after his last release in Tamil, Madhavan is said to be getting ready to play a boxer in his upcoming Tamil film which might be directed by Sudha Kongara, who had been working as an assistant director under Mani Ratnam for the past few year. Sudha’s debut film as a director is yet to be named, it is informed.

Madhavan has just completed the shooting schedule of Night of The Living Dead: Origins 3D his debut film in Hollywood which has been directed by Zebediah De Soto. His next project would be Sudha’s film in which he is reportedly playing a retired boxer. In order to prepare himself for the role, Madhavan has been learning the nuances of the art of boxing from Hollywood stunt choreographers.

Maddy would appear with a stronger body in the film which would also feature real-life boxers who are professionals. “It’s a challenging role for me; I have been preparing myself for the tough grind. When I first got up for a boxing bout, I couldn’t sustain for more than a minute. Now I have bee taking boxing lessons and hope to do a good job,” says Maddy.

The film is likely to go to the floors in December.
