Amudhan prefers suicide to making a film starring Srinivasan

Powerstar-SrinivasanIn what can be termed as ‘harshest’ of all the (negative) comments about the self-styled ‘power star’ Srinivasan, film-maker C.S. Amudhan has said that he would prefer committing suicide if he is ‘forced’ to make a film starring Srinivasan.

Despite his often irritating gimmicks and him putting up a brave face even after serving a prison term, Srinivasan’s antics haven’t successfully hidden what he had been trying to hide from the public: that he was in prison because he had been accused of cheating people of their hard-earned money. Srinivasan claimed, much to the chagrin of newspersons, that the police in prison had become ‘his fans’ and treated him well.

Amudhan made a promising and bold debut with the 2010 satire film Thamizh Padam which ridiculed the very film-making process (and other aspects in films) which had been followed without noticeable changes in the industry for the past many years. Despite criticism from within the industry about the film, it did well at the box-office and Amudhan is now making his second film ‘Rendavathu Padam’ which is produced by director Dharani.

Vimal, Arvind Akash, Richard, Vijayalakshmi, Remya Nambeesan and Sanjana Singh play the lead roles in Rendavathu Padam which has music by Kannan. Queried by a leading daily as to what would he do if he is abducted by Srinivasan with a demand to make a film starring him in the lead, Amudhan shot back immediately saying “Under such circumstances, I would gladly prefer suicide than making a film starring him!”
