Arrambam to be Yuvan’s 100th film as music director?

downloadWith the theatrical release of Venkat Prabu’s Biriyani starring Karthi and Anushka in lead roles getting delayed unduly for reasons best known to the director and producer, it now appears that Ajith’s Arrambam which would be releasing on Deepavali might well turn out to be the milestone 100th film (as music director) in the career of the young and dynamic Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Biriyani was earlier referred to as Yuvan Shankar Raja’s 100th film but now that it has been postponed to hit the screens next January (during Pongal holidays), Arrambam is now all set to release as the 100th film in the career of Yuvan, who turned 34 last Saturday (31st August). Yuvan debuted as music director as an 18-year old teenager in 1997 by scoring the music of the Sarathkumar-starrer Aravindhan.

Over the past decade-and-a-half, Yuvan has done enough to be referred to by many as a genius in the making. His soulful songs, which are mostly melodious, remind the listeners of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, his legendary father. To his credit, Yuvan has always ensured in all his films that the sound of instruments don’t ‘bury’ the voices of the playback singers.

Versatile Yuvan has also scored the music of Vanavarayan Vallavarayan which has Krishna and Monal Gajjar in lead roles. The film is also slated to release by the year-end; if it does so, Biriyani might become Yuvan’s 102nd film to release.
