Raj Tiruchelvan, a Tamil based in U.S., is said to be showing great interest in making superstar Rajinikanth’s super-duper hit Chandramukhi in English. If Tiruchelvan’s idea takes shape, Chandramukhi might soon be going to Hollywood as the first-ever English remake of a Tamil film.
P. Vasu, the director who made Chandramukhi, is said to be in reckoning to direct the English version too. Tiruchelvan, who is a native of Sri Lanka, has reportedly sounded Vasu to be prepared to make the English version. “Only recently did I watch your Chandramukhi and was bowled over by the theme. Let’s explore the possibilities of making it in English,” were the words Tiruchelvan conveyed to Vasu last week.
Efforts to rope in Vijay to play Rajini’s role did not bear fruit as the former has said ‘no’ to star in the English version. As such, hunt is on to cast a leading hero while Sonam Kapoor of Bollywood might play the heroine in the film. Anil Kapoor, her father, might also get to play a significant role in the planned Hindi version. Most of the technicians to work in the film would be drafted from Hollywood, it is learnt.
Hollywood hottie Angelina Jolie’s father might play a significant role in the film. Vasu, who has left for U.S., would be finalizing the cast and technicians to be part of the film. He is also said to be planning to include a few songs in typical Tamil (film) style for the film, which is tentatively titled as Gary In Love for now. The shoot might commence in September, it is reliably learnt.
