Ever since Thalaivar Rajinikanth’s – Sivaji 3D, paved way for Dolby Atmos to associate itself as a premier brand in India, things are only getting better. We had earlier reported about Illayathalapathy Vijay’s Thalaivaa becoming one among the first commercial Tamil entertainers to endorse the Dolby Atmos technology apart from Pizza 2 – The Villa which will see a subsequent release.
Leading the race and making this Hollywood technology available to the people in the state is the prestigious SPI Cinemas banner, a premier motion picture exhibitor who have imported this technology exclusively from Dolby Laboratories, USA. Confirming the same, a list of theaters have been aimed at to bring forth the ultimate sound experience available to the audience in recent times as Thalaivaa is all geared up for its release.
Soon, 37 screens across Chennai and Coimbatore will gain from this technology . Pankaj Kedia, country manager for Dolby Laboratories India, quoted on the list of theaters which will be re-calibrated for its facilitation yesterday. He says – “Sathyam Cinemas’ will get 6 screens, Luxe’s 10 screens , Escape Cinemas’ 8, 1 screen at S2 (Tiruvanmiyur), 2 screens for Coimbatore and 2 screens at S2 (Perambur) . The others are yet to be decided upon.”
Expected to cost a whopping Rs 25-40 lakh per screen / Rs 80 lakhs for the large screens , this technology is a leap in the direction of a great sound experience wherein 64 speakers will be deployed to channel sounds not only from the front back and rear speakers, but also from the ceiling and floor too!!!
