More than two-and-a-half years after his last film Virudhagiri hit the screens, actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth is all set to return to tinsel town. This time, though, he won’t be playing the lead hero instead would be playing the pivotal character in the film which would mark the debut of his son Shanmuga Pandian as hero.
Vijayakanth, who took to active politics more than five years back, is presently the Leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. His last tryst with Kollywood was through Virudhagiri , produced under his own banner the film courted colossal failure at the box-office.
Now Vijayakanth is said to have finalized the script and the director for his son’s launch-pad, and would be playing a very prominent role in the untitled film.This would not be the first time Vijayakanth not playing the lead in his film after reaching stardom, he had done similar roles in Vijay-Yuvarani starred Sendhoorapandi and even in Suriya’s Periyanna.
Vijayakanth also hopes to release his son’s film to coincide with the parliamentary elections due next year so as to get maximum possible mileage out of his presence in the film.
