Veteran director-Actor Visu has filed a case with the Chennai High Court demanding ban on the theatrical release of the upcoming film Thillu Mullu. Produced by S. Madhan and directed by Badri, the film is a remake of the super-hit Rajini-starrer of the same name which released in the early eighties.
Siva and Isha Talwar play the lead roles in the remake version which has Prakash Raj, Santhanam, Kovai Sarala, Sathyan, Monisha, Soori, Ilavarasu and Manobala essaying significant roles. M.S. Viswanathan, who scored the music of the Rajini-starrer, has jointly scored the music for the remake version along with Yuvan Shankar Raja.
In his petition filed with the Court, Visu has said “I was the screenplay & dialogue writer of the Rajini-starrer Thillu Mullu which released in 1981. Vendhar Movies have now remade the film with the same title and the film is scheduled to hit the screens on 14th June.
“I would like to point out that the producers neither informed me nor took prior permission from me while making the remake of Thillu Mullu. As such, I request the Court to kindly ban the theatrical release of the remake version,” the petition stated. The case is taken up for hearing today as the film’s release is scheduled for tomorrow.
