Along with the sizzling (late) ‘Silk’ Smitha, Anuradha ruled the roost in Tamil films as an ‘item girl’ throughout the eighties. There were times when one couldn’t think of any Tamil film releasing without the sizzling ‘item song’ either by Smitha or by Anuradha or by both of them. Though Smitha was in a league of her own, Anuradha didn’t lag behind and was equally entertaining the audiences and her fans.
After starring in more than 700 films in many languages and in 35 films as heroine, Anuradha took a break from acting in the nineties when she got married and settled into matrimony. She was, however, back on small-screen where she has been playing character-based roles. Her attempt to introduce her daughter Abinayashree as heroine bombed miserably. Despite a good show in Friends, Abinayasri couldn’t achieve much.
Realizing that her daughter might not turn out to be a great success in films, Anuradha guided her daughter to small screen where she has been hosting programmes for various television channels. Anuradha has now decided to launch her son Kevin as hero in Kollywood and has been renewing her contacts in the Tamil film industry to somehow try and give a ‘decent’ beginning to her son’s acting career.
Her dream of making her son a hero has now been realized. Kevin is to make his debut as hero with a film titled Ennamo Pidichirukku. It remains to be seen whether he would manage more success than the mother-daughter duo.
