I’m only getting what I duly and truly deserve:Ileana

Ileana-DCruzIleana D’Cruz has asserted that what she gets as fee for a film of hers is entirely her own ‘business’ and others need not have any ‘say’ in it. “We (actresses) have to toil it out day in and day out at under various climatic conditions. These things are grossly overlooked when commenting/writing about the fee we command and are paid for our performances,” Ileana said.

Goan girl Ileana has had a successful entry into Bollywood, the world of Hindi films, as her debut film Barfi with Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra has been appreciated by critics besides becoming a huge commercial success. The picture-perfect Ileana debuted as heroine a few years back with the failed Tamil film Kedi and later moved to Tollywood to sustain herself as an actress. The rest, as they say, is ‘history’.

Making a comeback in Tamil after a long hiatus, Ileana starred in Shankar’s Nanban early this year opposite Vijay. Ileana appears to be in no mood to try and consolidate her market in Tamil as she is said to be making serious efforts to find a foothold in Mumbai. The slim-and-svelte Ileana has moved her place of residence from Hyderabad to Mumbai in order to achieve her ambition of becoming a frontline actress in Hindi.

Queried about her fee and asked for her reaction to reports which said that she had been demanding ‘more’, Ileana’s reply was quick. “Nobody can say which is more and which is less: it depends on the producer and the actress’ standing in the industry. I don’t care as to who gets how much; I’m only trying to ensure that I’m paid in a manner befitting my hard-work and sincerity. To put it differently, I deserve whatever I’m getting paid by my producers!” was her reply.

The tone and tenor of her voice didn’t give room for any further questions on the issue!
