Record number of prints for Jiiva’s Neethaane En Ponvasantham

Neethane_En-PonvasanthamAce director Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Neethaane En Ponvasantham (NEP) is certainly one of the most awaited movies in recent times. The film, which has been hyped appropriately and in a deserving manner as the ‘musical hit’ of the year, has music by Maestro Ilaiyaaraja for whom it’s the first film with Menon. Gautham has gone on record many a time in the past about the Maestro’s greatness and has been raving about the film’s sons.

Jiiva and Samantha play the lead roles in the film which has also been made simultaneously in Telugu with Samantha and the Maestro’s music being the common factors in both the versions. Naani (of Naan Eee fame), the newly-wed bridegroom, pairs up opposite Samantha in the Telugu version. Both the versions are said to be featuring many sequences with the ‘typical’ Menon’s touch.

Santhanam provides the comic relief in the romantic NEP which hits the screens tomorrow. The film has generated an unprecedented hype for a film which doesn’t have any big stars in it. Jiiva, of course, is a saleable actor but Sam is hardly a leading actress in Tamil though she appears to have it in her to become one in future. The novel audio-launch of the film, held a few weeks ago, has triggered expectation among the fans and movie-goers.

Record number of prints have been made for the film. No film starring Jiive had earlier been released with such a large number of prints and in so many halls. Industry-watchers predict that Jiiva’s career might touch a new high with the film’s success. Samantha, who spoke with amazing and surprising fluency in Tamil at the audio-launch, might also have a long run in Kollywood if NEP hits the bull’s eye at the box-office.
