Priyamani: Don’t want to hear Ameer’s name anymore

National Award winning actress Priyamani is said to have taken a stance not to come anywhere close to director-actor Ameer. Ironically enough, Priyamani won the coveted National Award for her terrific performance as a village belle character in Ameer’s critically acclaimed Paruthiveeran in 2007. The film also marked actor Karthi’s debut in Kollywood.

After the success of Paruthiveeran, Priyamani was peppered with de-glamorized roles. However, she tried to come out of the image by donning bikini in a few Telugu films and in trying to expose her figure to the maximum extent possible in Tamil films such as Vishal’s Malaikkottai. Her brief roles in Maniratnam’s Raavan and Ramgopal Verma’s Ratha Sarithiram didn’t help her bagging many films in Tamil.

It turns out that recently, Priyamani was invited for a film’s audio launch. The picture-perfect actress, who agreed to attend the event, enquired with the organizers as to who were the invitees who had been invited for the event. When she was told that Ameer would be the chief guest, Priyamani immediately said she won’t be attending the event.

“Please don’t refer his(Ameer) name to me for any reason. There isn’t an iota of chance that I’d be sharing the dais with him for any purpose,” were the words reportedly uttered by Priyamani who promptly returned the invitation to the organizers.

Wonder what’s the matter?
