Actress Ileana has made a grand comeback to Tamil films by playing Vijay’s heroine in the successful Nanban. The film, directed by Shankar and co-starring Jiiva, Srikanth, Anuya and Sathyan, has brought cheers to Shankar’s camp by doing well at all centres in the State. The film was Ileana’s comeback film after her debut in Tamil films through Kedi more than six years back.
Thrilled at Anushka’s appreciation of my role in Nanban: Ileana
“I starred in Nanban, my first Tamil film in almost six years. I’m happy that my role in the film has been appreciated by none other than my contemporary actress Anushka,” says Ileana, who possesses a to-die-for hour-glass figure. After Kedi nose-dived at the box-office, Ileana moved to Tollywood where he became one of top actresses in no time and starred opposite almost all the top heroes.
It is said that Shankar, who was on the look-out for a fresh face to play Vijay’s lead in Nanban (in the role essayed by Bollywood’s Kareena Kapoor in the original 3 Idiots), brought Ileana back to Kollywood after paying her more than Re.1 crore. Speaking to newsmen recently, the slim-and-svelte actress said, “Nanban has brought me accolades. Though I watched the original version, I was conscious not to ape Kareena’s style.
“I’m happy to have come back to Kollywood where I debuted as heroine more than six years back. I had been waiting for a good script in Tamil all these years which I got through Nanban. It’s an exasperating experience to have worked with a talented director like Shankar who plans things in a meticulous manner and executes them to perfection. I’m also thrilled that Anushka rang me up and congratulated for my role in the film,” concludes Ileana.
