Actress Suhasini has opined that it’s the duty of film-makers to introduce on-screen not only good-looking heroines but also handsome-looking heroes (read: fair-complexioned) for the benefit of millions of female fans like her. The actress was taking part in the audio launch of the film Panithuli in the city.
Many Kollywood VIPs including director-actor Cheran took part at the event. In his speech, Suhasini hinted at the growing trend among directors and producers in introducing more and more number of black-complexioned heroes. She also made it amply clear that women, given a choice, would always to love to go for heroes with fair-skin rather than those who didn’t have such complexion.
“I express my views here not as a film-maker or an actress or a person from the film fraternity. I speak purely as a female fan who loves Tamil films; as such, I would surely love to purforth a request to filmmakers. They should try to introduce handsome-looking heroes such as MGR, Kamal Haasan, Arvind Swamy and Ajith (all of them fair-skinned). Just like actresses, isn’t it imperative that the heroes too have to look handsome and likeable?” she said in her brief speech.
As if to give a counter statement to Suhasini’s remarks, actor-director Cheran (who comes under the not-so-fair-skinned category) said so when he spoke: “From Suhasini’s remarks, I found one thing: all the heroes she referred to are those who have fair-complexion. I would love to point out that there are many heroes who look handsome and likeable despite their skin’s complexion being not so fair,” said Cheran.
We only hope the matter ends here and doesn’t open a Pandora’s Box!
