Wasn’t Vikram serious with Rajapattai?

That ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram appears in various get-ups in his latest release Rajapattai has become a well-known affair by now. Notwithstanding the film’s script, which is at best pedestrian according to critics, Vikram’s various get-ups in the film have come out in a highly appreciable manner, say those who have watched the film.

Suseendhiran of Vennila Kabadikuzhu and Naan Mahaan Alla fame has directed this Vikram-starrer, which is the actor’s next offering after his Deivathirumagal released a few months back. The film has Vikram playing a gym boy opposite newcomer Deeksha Seth. Veteran director K. Viswanath has played a significant role in the film.

At the press-meet held in connection with the film’s release, scribes asked how Vikram could manage to do so many characters in one film and yet have them not impacting the audience like a Pithamagan, Kasi or a Sethu. Scribes expressed their apprehension that to them, it seemed as if Vikram was playing a kind of game and wasn’t serious about the characters in the film.

Pat came the reply from Vikram. “I always treat cinema and my acting like my God. I never take my acting lightly; for all these get-ups termed ‘not-so-serious by you, I used to get up as early as at 03:00 a.m. and would for hours without eating anything. I have toiled for days together for a character which appears in the film only for a few seconds. Hence, it’s wrong on the part of the scribes to say that I wasn’t serious enough,” clarified Vikram.

When the talk veered to other topics, Vikram said he was quite happy to know that many Bollywood stars seem to know so many things about him. “My films like Dil, Dhool, Gemini and Bheema are about to be remade in Hindi. They would first be dubbed in to Hindi and then would be remade. My commercial films have always been received well by the public; I shall continue do such films in future,” said Vikram.
