Thala Ajith’s much awaited 50th film Mankatha (also spelt Mangatha) directed by Venkat Prabhu was launched on August 2, 2010. In an exclusive chat, Venkat Prabhu said. “This is an extra special movie for me. It’s my fourth and it’s a big one. So far, I have not worked with big heroes and people wondered whether I could handle it. And I was not really thinking along those lines. But if the Big Hero himself believes I can do it, so what more needs to be said?”
The latest buzz is that the teaser trailer of Mankatha is ready for screening and will be released in theatres on August 20. About the teaser, the director said: “This is just a way to promote the movie even before we start shooting! The fact that it is an Ajith film is hype enough, but we thought we’ll just add to that to please his innumerable fans.”
“We wanted to give people a hint or a feel of what is to come. The teaser trailer is very suggestive, with a very vintage look. There’s nothing vintage about the movie as such — it’s just a different look that we went for with the teaser. By suggestive, I mean the trailer sort of gets you curious about what the film is all about, and what kind of a role Ajith sir plays in it. We shot the teaser on August 3rd that marks his completion of 18 years in cinema.
It also turned out to be an auspicious day, so we clubbed it all together! The teaser is releasing on the 20th along with Naan Mahan Alla; enjoy the movie and our trailer!” he added.
