Earlier, Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s fans announced that they will fast in Chepauk to protest the Sri Lankan civil war and its effect on the Tamils out there – a move that surprised everyone in Kollywood.
Vijay, who is deeply moved by his fans’ decision, has decided to join them in their hunger strike despite being busy with Villu’s filming in Tuticorin.
Vijay felt that his fans have realized that as a social group – even if it is just a fan club – they can do their part to bring about a change in society. He thanked them for heeding his request to send telegrams to the Prime Minister to demand a solution for the Sri Lankan crisis. He also stated that he is extremely happy that his fan club members care so much for society’s welfare. “I respect my fans’ decision and this is a signal of a new beginning of an inclusive and humane society,” opined the actor.
At the same time, the actor insisted that there should not be any violation of law and order in this protest. “We should respect law and order. We should follow non-violence always. As a sign of protest, everyone will wear black clothes on this protest day and will protest silently; no fierce speeches,” said the actor.
